Duties of a Home Health Aide
The responsibilities of an HHA include:
- Performing Simple Medical Procedures – Assisting with basic therapeutic services under professional supervision.
- Personal Care Assistance – Helping with bathing, grooming, dressing, and other daily hygiene tasks.
- Mobility Support – Assisting with patient ambulation and prescribed exercises to improve strength and movement.
- Essential Household Services – Performing light housekeeping tasks that directly impact the patient’s health, such as meal preparation and maintaining a clean living space.
- Medication Assistance – Helping patients take medications that are normally self-administered, ensuring proper dosage and timing.
- Monitoring Patient Condition – Observing and reporting any changes in the patient’s health or needs to a registered nurse or therapist.
- Record Keeping – Maintaining accurate documentation of care provided and the patient’s progress.
